There was just something about coming home late at night, and finding her asleep in his bed with his kitten, that made even the most stressful days float away into nothingness.

He had been exhausted when he hit the bed, and with the addition of his girlfriend comfortably in his arms, he was out too cold to notice the kitten sleeping on his face.

It was a common topic of flirtation when they were apart, even when they were together, but truthfully he didn't care if she was wrapped up like an Eskimo, as long as she was also wrapped up in his arms.

One day he's going to ask her to take him with her, because he wants to see everything as she sees it, and because he loves the idea of nothing but the two of them and the stretching road.

1. Almost pissed off my girlfriend
2. Pissed off my kid
3. Boss forced me into taking personal time
4. --- I think that's enough, don't you?

He isn't used to the sudden fears that cling to his thoughts, but the more painful part is that they've opened his eyes to the fact that one day he won't be able to hold onto her anymore, and it almost makes him want to stop loving her any more than he already does.

He watches her sleep in his arms, and instead of wondering how he'd gotten so lucky that she had chosen him, he was wondering how the hell he'd make it when she was gone.
